The pioneering rapper Ice Cube is bringing his new “Tell Truth to Power: Four Decades of Attitude” tour to Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena in September.
The Sept. 5 concert will be the second stop in the 21-city tour, which kicks off a day earlier in Brooklyn, according to an announcement posted on Live Nation Entertainment, which is producing the tour. It is being described as the 55-year-old musician’s first coast-to-coast tour in more than a decade and follows the release last November of the rapper’s 11th studio album, “Man Down.”
“Truth to Power is more than a tour — it’s a 40-year celebration,” Ice Cube said in a news release.
“The world needs truth. The people need power. And that’s what my music brings. It’s gonna be next level to go from city to city with a major production unlike anything I’ve ever done before.”
The performer burst onto the national consciousness in 1987, when he co-founded the seminal gangsta rap group N.W.A. with such now-iconic hip-hop artists as Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and Arabian Prince.
After leaving N.W.A., Ice Cube’s solo career featured such landmark albums as “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted” and “Lethal Injection.” He also embarked on a successful acting career, with notable performances in “Boyz n the Hood” and the “Friday” franchise.
Tickets will become available for presale at 10 a.m. tomorrow at icecube.com, according to the Tuesday news release, and general admission tickets will go on sale 48 hours later.
