More than 100 revelers turned out to Peabody Heights Brewery’s inaugural “Night of 100 Beehives,” an event it cohosted with the Baltimore Hon Hive. Several food and artistic vendors set up shop and guests were entertained with a drag show. But the most fun was provided by many of the guests themselves, who turned out in their own versions of the famed Bmore Hon beehive hairdo.
“It’s fun. It’s expressive. It honors the working class Hons of Baltimore,” said Lucy Blumberg, a Baltimore Hon Hive member.
“My grandmother would go every week to the beauty parlor to get her hair done. It was something social,” said Stacy Hurley, Baltimore Hon Hive co-leader.
“These beehives are fantastic,” observed Amy Reid, event organizer, as she scanned the room. “We’re hoping to make this an annual thing, and a [charity] fundraiser,” she said.
